Sozopol - Belglik Tash, a recipe for a perfect day.

If you go to Burgas via an alternative route and the trip is planned in June, you can view the lavender/sunflower fields around Kableshkovo

Sozopol, ancient Greek name Apollonia Pontica.

In the Greek period there was a colossus statue of the god Apollo here. The statue was stolen by the Romans and taken to Rome.

However, the town is much older than the Greek period.

Follow the road to the "Stari Grad" or old town and you will arrive at a paid parking lot near the archaeological museum.

A visit to this museum is very interesting. You will find, among other things, utensils such as toys that are thousands of years old and you travel through all periods of civilization.

A narrow road along the sea takes you past numerous restaurants with sea views where you can rest and past the old Greek strongholds.

Furthermore, a very pleasant town with marina, beaches, shops, etc...

From Sozopol you can continue to the Ropotamo River.

The river is located in a nature conservation area and you can take a pleasant 30-minute boat trip on the river. This photo was taken in the spring with the trees in exuberant bloom!

Endpoint Beglik Tash.

Half an hour's walk through the woods and you arrive at an open lawn where you can view the enormous cobblestones in detail.

This seems to have been a place for rituals in the past. A few years ago admission was free, but now for a few leva you get signs everywhere on which you can find stories about geometric constructions with the stars.

"If it's not true, it's a damn good invention." In any case, these boulders are next to or on top of each other and one has the impression that they have been pushed up from the ground.

A little further, as you walk towards the sea, you will find these meters high sharp rocks split by wedges.

Driving back from Beglik Tash to the coast one finds Perla Beach.

This is the holiday home of an ex-communist leader, Todor Zhivkov. This repressive communist gave himself this manor, including the pier and underground passages (to escape by submarine). Now it is a hotel.

On the way back to Sveti Vlas, you pass the Sozopol exit again and see signs to the castle.

If you have some time, especially in summer, you can visit the castle of Ravadinovo.

Not that cheap but worth it.

The castle was built by an architect who put almost all his imagination and architectural styles into it. There is also a small zoo. More can be found here
