BANSKO, VILLA MELNIK, ROHZEN MONASTERY, KARLANOVSKI EARTH PYRAMIDS

Bansko  is a city in southwestern Bulgaria, located in Blagoevgrad Oblast, near the town of Razlog.

It is located in the Pirin Mountains which rise up to 3000 m.

Once primarily a community of herders and hawkers, the town is now an international center for winter and summer tourism.

Fun in the Pirin Mountains

We had the pleasure of taking a 4X4 ride with a very friendly owner of an off-road company and a Mercedes 4X4. We had driven so many steep roads that the Mercedes was allowed to go to the garage after the ride. A true quality experience in nature and sensations.

Totally recommendable:   BANSKO ATV

VILLA MELNIK

Wine producer Villa Melnik.

The Villa is located south of Bansko and Melnik, in a vast hilly landscape. The company focuses on producing quality wines, i.e. less grapes, more flavor.

In the Melnik region, experiments were carried out with the Melnik grape variety under the communist regime to develop new flavors through crossbreeding. Creativity was out of the question and so the results were quantified. We can still taste these results, including the Melnik55 wine, certainly not bad.

.

We made an appointment to taste the different wines and visit the estate. We visited the production unit and were able to pick some Melnik grapes, they were very tasty.

Then we gathered to taste the different wines accompanied by appropriate snacks.

 KARLANOVSKI EARTH PYRAMIDS

On the road between Bansko and Melnik, I encounter these gigantic pointed peaks 100 meters high on which trees grow.

Very incredible and bizarre geological shapes, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Melnik Pyramids are rock formations, known as hoodoos, located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains in southwest Bulgaria. They cover an area of 17 km near the town of Melnik, Blagoevgrad province. Reaches a height of up to 100 meters (source Wikipedia)
